OOH, (g)IRL! Pivotal In-site is 6!

Six years of Pivotal In-site, est. 10.29.2020

· writing,branding,marketing,OOH,IRL

Today is October 29. Six years ago, this day became Pivotal.

So Pivotal, in fact - it marked the start of Pivotal In-site.

Here's a brief review before we bounce back to begin again, anew - OOH, (g)IRL.

The year was 2020. We all know what that looked like, and probably don't really care to recall what it felt like. We can't forget what we don't remember, so we'll continue onward.

This was the first time I got on camera to share a few tips for navigating difficulty.

That first year flashed before my eyes. Thankfully, I documented the momentous milestone that was making it through to the finish line. It was wild beyond anything I ever anticipated. From affording a 2-week trip for two to Waikiki on Oahu in Hawaii in those first few months, to deciding in August that I'd take 2022 totally OFFLINE from social media - 2021 was outrageous in every way possible. I also quit drinking alcohol.

2022 was a return to presence unlike anything I'd ever experienced. While I was nowhere to be found on the social media platforms, my work was still very much active:

  • Featured in theSkimm the first week of January - I nearly fell out of my chair.
  • Guest on a podcast for the first time! I've done a few more since then.
  • Created social content calendar and email campaign to promote the annual International Human Trafficking and Social Justice Conference
  • Plus plenty more events and opportunities sprinkled throughout the year, and a relocation in November from Ypsilanti to Detroit
  • Nothing topped the final highlight - becoming AUNTIE on Christmas Day!

2023, typical travel resumed after a lull due to the pandemic. Returning to solo travel lit a full spark in my soul. I felt alive again in the best way. And so very grateful.

2024, I'd travel more - solo, still. This time, destination: Alaska. On a whim, and wow did I ever need that trip. More than I knew it, truly. All for the Midnight Sun (before the song).

2025, yep! You guessed it. Travel on travel. From The Keys to Sonoma to New York City, I was nonstop all year. It was arguably the most eventful year of my adult life, in just about every way imaginable. I think I am still tired from it - nearly a full year later, lol.

2026 started heavy with travel, too. From a weekend in Orlando to the very next one in NOLA for Mardi Gras, then a week in Pensacola just a few months later, followed by an incredibly eventful summer packed with amazing opportunities all season long.

My top highlight from 2026 would have to be hearing from Grand Valley State University, where I went to school and graduated with a degree in Professional Writing in 2011. They reached out in search of alumni writers who could offer an unpublished manuscript to be used for a writing class if chosen. I submitted mine with hope that it may be chosen. Next month, I will drive out to GVSU to be a guest in the class that is working on my manuscript.

Happy 6 Years, Pivotal In-site! Here's to far more IRL adventures with an emphasis on OOH advertising. What can I say - I love it here. I love being in the moment with people and experiencing the fullness of life beyond the screens that capture it all. Memories are cool, but we can't forget what we don't remember - so let's create more amazing moments to look back on and smile about when we reflect in gratitude.

Thank you so much for being here with me.

In gratitude,
Brittney Schering
